BANGALORE: Call it the class of 2008. Students who shared benches at Paper Town High School in Bhadravathi over two decades ago, recently united in Bangalore along with their spouses to felicitate their teachers.
As many as 35 classmates - who identify their group as Grown-Ups - were gripped by nostalgia at the event held at Prakashnagar. The mentors' enthusiasm on the occasion outdid that of the students.
Eighteen of the 21 teachers turned up from across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to see their students.
Even though the Grown-Ups had a tough time recognizing some of their mentors, the teachers easily recognized them. The studious ones and the naughty ones stood out in memory. At the felicitation ceremony - Guru Vandana - the teachers were presented a shawl, a memento of Goddess Saraswati, dry fruits, and a cardamom garland. Most of them, even though retired, had some valuable lessons to teach the Grown-Ups. Their mantra all these years has been to 'never sit idle'. The teachers beamed with pride on realizing their students had become surgeons, MDs, journalists and engineers.
